Artist: The Autumn Stone
Label: The Active Listener, 2015
After releasing their debut album, Beautiful Freaks, The Autumn Stone comes back with three songs in Bee Sides of Beautiful Freaks. Still full of melancholy with bitter sweet melodies but give more rooms for something new and fresh.
Listen to the first track, Kangaroo. This piano based song is hauntingly beautiful. I don’t know how to call it, but the ambience in this song is spacey and in near the end of the song you can feel how beautiful the piano is. Sad beauty type.
Ray’s Lament, is a dark instrumental track. Minor chords guitar with haunting back vocal and church organ covering narration from an old man behind. I figure out the narration is taken from a movie or something. Spectacularly closed, I can say.
And the best one is put on the last. The Tennesse Waltz is very cool song. You can hear the rythm as if made from some mechanical stuff, maybe hammer hitting a wooden box. Sounds like an old country song but rich in layer. You can listen to the album here. I recommend it.
