I've been waiting for a long time to listen to a pop band playing music in a fun way. Swinging my mind with a swinging music and create a picture of scenery, frees me from complicated thought. That sensation finally in me when I listened to an indie-pop band from Bandung, Indonesia, called Tamankota. Four songs in this EP are full of cheerful and jangly 90's pop.
On the first track, titled 'Sometimes', they build an indie-pop parade with a strong jangly music all along the melancholic lyric. The result? We get a little bit Blueboy there, taking our imagination to feel free. A song called 'Takkan Hilang' is also interesting. A soft vocal swinging with sweet melodies. When it comes to third track, 'Shine', we have fresh air as if we open the window in the morning and let the sun shines on every corner of our bedroom. Next song called 'Siklus' ends the three previous songs with a sound of jangly guitar waving smoothly to our ears. The lyric is also brilliant. Telling about life cycle of joy and sorrow in a simple way and very easy to get.
I'm really glad to get this EP from Eko, the owner of Shiny Happy Records, their Indonesian label. My need to find a fun pop music had been satisfied enough with this EP. They may be not the first band who play indie-pop very well, but they do make me feel that life is beautiful after listening to their EP.
