I'm proud knowing this dangerous killer Indonesian band, KAITZR. This debut is a two songs-album from them where each song has 13 and 15 minutes length. Talking about the duration, my first concerns was "would they be boring?" It's tricky of course to play these kind of long songs, either they will be a genius cool one or boring one.
"Subtly elaborates the life a gondolier of the underworld and the damned ones’ contemplation of their doings in their times before obols were put inside their mouths."
"Telling a crooked myth, ‘referring to’ and ‘not referring to’ the Greek mythology of Charon at the same time, ‘Myth and Deceit’ carefully crafted a myth inside a myth, symbolizing a world of confusion where deceits have taken control. A world where we currently live in."
That's what I read on the bandcamp. The prologue, 'The Riverman', is a heavy rock with strong intension to be a great opening for this long story. Heavy bass line, guitar riff, strong drumbeat in the first few seconds hook up with melodious guitar before beating the heart out for the rest of duration. This 13 minutes song does mean to bleed your ears till the end. The Damned, the epilogue, must be the sequel from the previous one. You would exactly know that they haven't done to bust your soul out when the intro comes up.
I love how they craft all their songs with various dynamic but still maintain the up-lifting atmosphere in every progressions. If I said that a song with long duration would be trapped into boring, they passed it. Personally, this album is really my piece of cake. Heavy riff, explosive sounds, strongly ripping off. Now I'm waiting to see them playing live. You can find them on Facebook and twitter.
