Artist: Alien Hand Syndrome
Label: Self-released, 2014
Alien Hand Syndrome’s new album ‘Slumber’ is structured by agressive alternative rock and classical melancholy arrangement. It goes dark in a way and beautiful in another hand. This Austrian musician pull out the songs from the meta level where he may only sings about certain feeling. Otherwise, he covered the intensity of anger, fear, and alienation in his way of delivering through music. I would say this is about stressing the song structure and arrangement. Trying to make something unusual in writing song structure.
If you pay attention to song like ‘Daniel and The Lion’ where it sounds so catchy and very pop-alike, you’d exactly know what I mean. In this song, he brings out the bitterness and the strangeness to the surface of its every bright pop tone. The song ‘Slumber’ is emotionally lifting the intention of being melancholic with a strong desire to rock more and more. I really love how he puts cello and piano in arrangement. It makes the album sounds rich and explorative. This album is very emotional and personal, magically created its own world with every seconds of the progress on track by track. Beautifully dark.
